No to War |
War is not a solution Stop Bush and Blair's military plansDon't let workers pay the price

Newsletter No 1 September 28, 2001Dear Friend, As we write Bush and Blair are preparing some kind of military attack on Afghanistan in response to the horrific attacks in the US. Whatever military action is taken, it is going to lead to the loss of many more innocent lives. Nor will it succeed in defeating terrorism. It is the policies of US imperialism (leading, for example, to the death of 6000 children a month in Iraq) that have resulted in individuals being desperate enough to carry out these appalling suicide attacks. Bush's 'war against terrorism' will only create more such individuals. We condemn the attacks in the US, but also condemn the warmongering of Bush and Blair. Build an anti-war movementWe have to build the strongest possible movement against the war. There are already many thousands of people who are convinced Bush and Blair's military plans are wrong. Over 5000 turned out to the CND vigil last Saturday from word of mouth and emails alone! We aim to organise local anti-war groups in as many schools, colleges and communities as possible. If you would like to get involved or find out more, come to our organising meeting.
Organise Against the WarSaturday 6 October 1.30 - 3.30 pm The Scott Room Oxford House Community Centre Derbyshire St, Bethnal Green London E2 (nearest tube Bethnal Green on Central Line)
We are organising anti-war activities across London. If possible, we would like you to get involved. What can you do?*Enclosed in this mailing are leaflets advertising the national CND demo on October 13 and our next all London anti-war meeting. The demo on the 13 will be the anti-war movement's first show of strength. We want to make it as big as possible. Please feel free to copy these and give them out as widely as possible. *Set up a local campaign against the war in your school, college, workplace or community. Enclosed is a form to sign up members. Please return a copy of it to us so we can add them all to our database. Why not call a meeting of everyone you know who is interested in doing something against the war. (It doesn't have to be formal. If you can't get a meeting room, someone's living room or even a quiet pub or cafe will do.) If you would like someone from ISR to come and speak and / or suggest campaigning ideas, get in touch at the address overleaf. *Come to ISR activities. Over the next week, we will be organising demonstrations outside MPs offices across London. If you can't make the organising meeting, but would like to know more, please give us a ring (details overleaf). *If you would like to know more about future activities please Contact Us or Join ISR. Or phone 020 8558 7947 or email us at againstcapitalism@hotmail.com. (If you can afford a donation, please make cheques payable to International Socialist Resistance, and send to International Socialist Resistance, PO Box 858, London, E11 1YG.) |
